The 26-year-old has been provisionally suspended by the ICC after Furosemide was found in an out-of-competition sample
Zubayr Hamza has been charged by the ICC with an anti-doping violation after testing positive for a banned substance.
An out-of-competition sample taken on January 17, 2022 revealed the presence of Furosemide. He has been provisionally suspended.
In a statement released by Cricket South Africa earlier in the week, they confirmed Hamza was "not disputing" the positive test, instead identifying how the substance got into his system.
CSA believe there was "no fault or negligence on the part of Zubayr".

Furosemide is not a performance enhancing substance but is on WADA’s list of prohibited substances.
Hamza, a middle-order batter, has made six Test appearances for South Africa since making his debut in 2019, scoring 212 runs at 17.66. He has also made one ODI appearance, scoring 56 runs against Netherlands in November 2021.
Earlier in March, he made himself unavailable for South Africa's upcoming Test and ODI series against Bangladesh, citing personal reasons.
