Scotland’s T20I against Australia has been cancelled as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the ongoing restrictions in place for international sport.

The two sides had been due to meet on June 29 at The Grange. With discussions continuing around the rescheduling of Australia’s tour of England for a limited-over series later in the summer, the possibility of a T20I against Scotland going ahead at a later date was explored.

It was ultimately decided, however, that it would not be possible, given the costs and logistics involved in staging a one-off fixture in a bio-secure environment.

Gus Mackay, chief executive of Cricket Scotland, said: “Whilst this is disappointing news for us all in Scotland, we have explored all potential options and concluded that it is no longer possible to play the men’s T20 international against Australia.”

Scotland had also been due to face New Zealand in a T20I and an ODI earlier in the month.
