The Australia spinner reportedly received a threat through his wife’s Instagram account, warning him against travelling to Pakistan, but security services do not believe he is at risk
The Pakistan Cricket Board, Cricket Australia and security services from both countries are investigating a social media threat made against Australia spinner Ashton Agar.
As reported in the Sydney Morning Herald, Agar’s wife received a threat on Instagram warning the cricketer against travelling to Pakistan.
However, security services do not believe Agar is at risk.
In a joint statement, the PCB and CA said: "Cricket Australia is aware of a social media post, of which the nature and content has been investigated by the PCB, CA and combined government security agencies.
"There are extensive security plans in place for this type of social media activity, which, in this case, is not considered a risk. No further comment will be made at this time."

This announcement comes just over 24 hours after Australia Test captain, Pat Cummins, remarked: "I feel incredibly safe [in Pakistan]."
Australia recently arrived in Pakistan for a multi-format series, their first visit to the country since 1998. They are scheduled to play three Test matches in Rawalpindi (March 4-8), Karachi (March 12-16), and Lahore (March 21-25) before the two sides return to Rawalpindi for three ODIs and a one-off T20I.
Following a terror attack on the Sri Lanka team bus in 2009, international cricket didn’t return to Pakistan until 2015.
In 2021, New Zealand and England (men and women) were due to tour the country before pulling out due to security concerns.
