New Zealand men have announced a 20-strong squad for the upcoming tour of England in May and June.

Michael Bracewell earns his maiden call-up for the red-ball squad, while uncapped duo Cam Fletcher, the backup wicketkeeper, and Blair Tickner will travel overseas with the Black Caps for the first time.

Seamer Jacob Duffy and backup batter Hamish Rutherford are also among the group which also sees a return for spinners Ajaz Patel and Rachin Ravindra.

Indian Premier League players Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell will be late arrivals and are scheduled to miss the warm-up tour matches against Sussex at Hove (May 23-23) and a First Class Counties XI at Chelmsford (May 26-29) in May.

The touring group will be trimmed to 15 for the Test series starting at Lord's on June 2-6, before matches at Trent Bridge (June 10-14) and Headingley (June 23-27).

The series, which unlike last summer's first series win in England since 1999 goes towards the ongoing World Test Championship cycle, starts a busy winter that includes white-ball matches against Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands and West Indies ahead of the T20 World Cup in October and November.

As a result, no players or staff will remain with the squad for the entire 14 weeks they're away from home.

"It’s going to be a busy winter, but one we’re looking to embrace as a group," said head coach Gary Stead.

"We’ve seen in recent times the need to be flexible with squads, schedules and staffing - and this winter will be no different.

"The red ball tour of England first up is clearly high on our priority list and we’re looking forward to hitting the ground running over there in a couple of weeks’ time.

"Touring England is always a special occasion with the people, the grounds and the history all making for a wonderful experience.

"The English are always tough in their own conditions and have many talented players they can call on.

"There’s a reason we’ve only ever won a couple of Test series over there and we know we’ll have to be at our very best to do it again.

“It’s an exciting time in particular for Michael and Cam, who will be heading away with the Black Caps for the first time.

"They had a taste of the environment this summer and I’m sure they’ll be looking forward to the opportunity of touring with the side and all the extra things that entails."

New Zealand squad: Kane Williamson (c), Tom Blundell (wk), Trent Boult, Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Jacob Duffy, Cameron Fletcher, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Rachin Ravindra, Hamish Rutherford, Tim Southee, Blair Tickner, Neil Wagner, Will Young
