New Zealand recorded their equal lowest total in T20 cricket as they were comprehensively beaten by Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Two players - Henry Nicholls and Tom Latham - made more than half of the Blackcaps' runs between them, with 18 apiece, as the visitors lost by seven wickets.

The touring Kiwis had sent a second-string squad to Bangladesh, with a separate squad named for games against India and the T20 World Cup in October and November.

However, they would not have expected to be exposed quite as spectacularly.

New Zealand's batting lineup took 16.5 overs to make their 60 all out, as Mustafizur Rahman led the way with 3 for 13 from 2.5 overs.

There were two wickets for each of Nasum Ahmed, Shakib al Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin, as the away side matched the total they posted against Sri Lanka in Chattogram in 2014.

It is the joint second lowest score made by a full ICC member in a men's T20 international. West Indies' 45 against England in St Kitts in 2019 tops the list.

The lowest total in all men's T20Is is the 21 made by Turkey against Czech Republic in 2019.

"We know it was going to be tough and unfortunately we kept on losing wickets at crucial times," New Zealand captain Tom Latham said.

"It was hard to start and we knew it was going to be a challenge and we prepared for this, but unfortunately we couldn't quite put it together today."
