Namibia will grace a third successive T20 World Cup after clinching qualification for the 2024 tournament.

A fifth consecutive win at the Africa qualifier held on home turf secured them the penultimate spot at the tournament with a game to spare.

Progress was delivered courtesy of a 58-run win over Tanzania in Windhoek. JJ Smit struck an unbeaten 40 as Namibia made 157 for 6 from their 20 overs.

Tanzania, winners of one of the sub-regional qualifiers held last December, stumbled to 99 for 6 from their 20 overs, with captain Gerhard Erasmus taking 2 for 17.

Now assured of a top-two finish in the seven-team group, the Eagles take their place as the 19th side confirmed to travel to the West Indies and United States next June, joining the likes of Nepal and Oman who progressed from the Asia qualifier earlier this month.

Just one spot at the tournament remains up for grabs, with Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Nigeria all in the hunt heading into the concluding rounds of matches. Rwanda, who have prevailed in one of their five matches, and winless Tanzania, are both out of contention.

Qualification provides Namibia with the opportunity to back up their performances from their opening two T20 World Cup outings.

In 2021, they reached the Super 12 stage after beating Netherlands and Ireland, but last year failed to get past the preliminary phase in Australia.
