Kapil Dev, the former World Cup-winning India captain and allrounder, is recovering in hospital after undergoing a procedure following chest pains.
The 61-year-old was taken to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute after complaining of discomfort.
He underwent an emergency coronary Angioplasty, which unclogs arteries, and is now recovering in ICU.
A hospital statement, as reported by Indian news agency ANI, read: "Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev, age 62 years, came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on October 23 with a complaint of chest pain.
"He was evaluated and an emergency coronary Angioplasty was performed by Dr Atul Mathur, Director of Cardiology Department, in the middle of the night.
"Currently, he is admitted in ICU and under close supervision of Dr Atul Mathur and his team. Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in a couple of days."
Indian Cricketers Association president Ashok Malhotra added to PTI: "He is feeling okay now. I just spoke to his wife (Romi). He is undergoing check-ups at the hospital as we speak."
