Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of India's upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka as the fast bowler's struggles with injury continue.

He had been set to join up with India's squad in Guwahati ahead of the three matches against Sri Lanka, but the BCCI confirmed that he "will need some more time to build bowling resilience".
India captain Rohit Sharma described the injury as "nothing major" and "just a stiffness in his back" but insisted that the national team had to be careful with their star fast bowler.
"A very unfortunate incident with him," added Sharma. "The poor guy has been working so hard at the NCA for all this time. Just when he got back to his full fitness, he started bowling and everything.

"Last two days, this incident happened where he felt a little bit of stiffness in his back. It is nothing major. It is just a stiffness. And when Bumrah says anything, we have to be very cautious about it. That is what we did.
"I thought it was important for us to make the decision then to pull him out because when we named him, he was in the process of getting his workload done. We need to be very careful with him. He had a major injury before the World Cup."
That news raises the prospect of Bumrah missing the white-ball visit of New Zealand that follows the Sri Lanka series and leaves his involvement in the Test series against Australia in the balance.
The first instalment in that series gets underway in Nagpur on February 9. He was only added to India's squad for the ODIs on January 3.
