Former South Africa international Nic Pothas has been appointed assistant coach of Bangladesh on a two-year contract.
He will link up with the squad during their three-match ODI series against Ireland in May.
Although Bangladeshi coaches were also encouraged to apply for the position, only one coach, Mizanur Rahman Babul, reportedly expressed interest.

Following his appointment, Pothas said: "The depth and array of talent running through Bangladesh is exceptional and I believe we have some exciting years ahead of us."
Pothas, 49, has previously served as interim head coach for West Indies and Sri Lanka as well as working with Middlesex as an assistant coach.
At Bangladesh, he will join an experienced group of coaches, including head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe, pace-bowling coach Allan Donald, spin-bowling coach Rangana Herath, batting coach Jamie Siddons, and fielding coach Shane McDermott.
During his playing career, Pothas played 218 first-class matches, 236 50-over matches, and 79 T20s, including three ODIs for the Proteas.
