Antigua: England Under-19s 189, India Under-19s 195-6 - India Under-19s won by four wickets

India men once again highlighted their relentless production line with a fifth title at the Under-19 World Cup after victory over England in Antigua.

The class of 2022 join the victories from 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018.

Half-centuries from Shaik Rasheed and Nishant Sindhu ensured the chase of 190 was completed with five wickets in hand and 14 balls remaining.

Raj Bawa had earlier taken 5 for 31 to limit England to just 189 on what looked like a dreamy batting surface.

They looked like butchering their innings after being reduced to 91 for 7 in the 25th over.

But James Rew's 95 ensured the champions from 1998 - England's only title at this level - at least had something to defend in the second half of the game.

Though on paper India's victory was a comfortable one, it was not without nervy moments.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi was dismissed via the second delivery of the chase by Josh Boyden and a slow run-rate meant the contest was very much in the balance.

Two crucial knocks turned the match firmly in India's direction. Rasheed displayed great poise on his way to a sublime half-century, combining patience and potency to deadly effect.

Upon being dismissed he was replaced by Sindhu, who merely picked up the baton and played a chanceless innings.

England had put the squeeze on India with the ball, with just five runs coming from 13 balls before Sindhu pounced on a leg-side delivery and whipped it to the boundary.

He would reach his fifty the next ball before victory was confirmed by Dinesh Bana, whose consecutive sixes sparked a pitch invasion by the India team.
