England have been boosted by the return of World Cup winner Jason Roy for the one-day international series against Australia.

The 30-year-old missed the T20s against Pakistan and Australia with a side problem but is back in the 14-man group for the 50-over matches, which start at Emirates Old Trafford on Friday (September 11).

Dawid Malan has been added as a reserve following his impressive T20 outings which has seen him climb to the top of the ICC batting rankings. He has not played an ODI since his debut against Ireland in May 2019.

Joe Denly has dropped out of the reserve list and returns to Kent ahead of the resumption of the T20 Blast. Phil Salt and Saqib Mahmood remain.

Captain Eoin Morgan is expected to be fit to start the series having missed the third T20 against Australia with a finger injury.

Jos Buttler is also likely to feature assuming he comes through COVID-19 testing following his return to the bubble after being permitted to leave the group after the second T20.

"Jos will be back in the bubble to join us in Manchester, baring Test results," confirmed coach Chris Silverwood. "He should be available to play.

"Eoin, obviously good news around his finger, and touch wood he'll be fit as well.

"Malan has come in as a reserve, Roy has come through fit so he will join the squad and obviously Salt has come in as a reserve as well."
