Duanne Olivier could be in line for a Test recall after being included in South Africa’s 21-player squad to face India later in December.

The right-arm pacer, who has 10 red-ball caps for South Africa, hasn’t made an international appearance in any format since  February 2019. However, after returning to South African cricket following the end of the Kolpak system earlier in 2021, Olivier has shown fine form for the Lions, taking 28 wickets at 11.14.

Seamer Sisanda Magala, who has made five white-ball appearances for the Proteas, and top-order batter Ryan Rickelton have earned maiden call-ups to the Test squad while uncapped duo Prenelan Subrayen and Glenton Stuurman have also been included.

The remainder of the squad is largely the same as the one that toured West Indies in June, a series which South Africa won 2-0. Of that squad, only spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and uncapped pace bowler Lizaad Williams are absent.
