Dilhara Lokuhettige guilty of three ICC anti-corruption offences

The former Sri Lanka allrounder will be handed his punishment imminently after a tribunal reached their conclusion

Ex-Sri Lanka international Dilhara Lokuhettige has been found guilty of three offences under the ICC anti-corruption code.

Following a hearing, the 40-year-old was found to have committed the misdemeanours and his punishment will be handed down in due course.

Lokuhettige was originally charged and suspended in November 2019. A tribunal found him guilty of:

Article 2.1.1 – for being party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive or otherwise influence improperly the result, progress, conduct or other aspect(s) of a match.

Article 2.1.4 – Directly or indirectly soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating any Participant to breach Code Article 2.1. 

Article 2.4.4 - Failing to disclose to the ACU full details of any approaches or invitations received to engage in corrupt conduct under the Code.

On behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board, the ICC had previously charged Lokuhettige with three further breaches of the code in relation to events around the T10 League in 2017.

In nine one-day internationals and two T20s, the Colombo-native scored 101 runs and claimed eight-wickets for Sri Lanka.

His last competitive outing came in February 2016 in the domestic Premier Limited Overs tournament for Moors Sports Club.
