Bangladesh wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim retires from T20Is

Rahim's retirement comes not long after Tamim Iqbal made a similar decision in July

Bangladesh wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim has retired from T20Is to "focus on Test and ODI formats of the game".

Rahim's announcement, which came via his personal social media channels, follows his country's early exit from the Asia Cup.

"Today, I am announcing my retirement from T20 Internationals," he wrote. "I will proudly continue to represent Bangladesh in Test and ODI formats. I am hopeful that I can bring success for our nation in these two formats."

The 35-year-old added that he would continue to take part in the Bangladesh Premier League and other franchise competitions.

He made just five runs across defeats by Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, while also missing an opportunity to dismiss Kusal Mendis, who made 60 in a two-wicket win for Sri Lanka.

Rahim's retirement comes not long after Tamim Iqbal made a similar decision in July, having shortly beforehand been named the player of the series in a three-match whitewash win over West Indies.
