Australia have named their squad ahead of the white-ball leg of India’s tour, with uncapped pair Cameron Green and Daniel Sams both included.

There is also a recall for fellow allrounder Moises Henriques for the series, which begins on November 27 with the first of three ODIs, followed by a trio of T20Is. All six games are being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Manuka Oval.

Sydney Sixers captain Henriques led his team to Big Bash glory last season but has not played for his country since October 2017. His return to the fold comes on the back of some fine domestic form – albeit in the red-ball sphere; he made 167 for New South Wales last week.

Green, likewise, has emerged as one of the standout players in the Sheffield Shield over the last two years. The 21-year-old has a first-class batting average of 52.23 and a bowling average of 21.53, though has done little of his work in limited-over formats. He represents Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash but has just 13 T20 appearances under his belt.

“Cameron's domestic form has been outstanding and he has carried it through for Western Australia this summer,” said selector Trevor Hohns. “As a potential player of the future this is an opportunity for him to be part of the squad and build on his experience.”

Up to 25,000 spectators to be permitted for MCG Boxing Day Test between Australia and India

Sams, meanwhile, is included after his Big Bash form led to him being signed by Delhi Capitals as a replacement for Jason Roy ahead of this year’s competition, which is ongoing in the United Arab Emirates. The left-arm seamer, who was part of Australia’s traveling party for their tour of England in September, has only played one IPL game.

Of those missing from the squad, Mitchell Marsh is recovering from an ankle problem and will continue to be monitored. Hohns added that he hoped the allrounder would be fit to take part in an Australia A fixture against India ahead of the Test series that follows the T20Is.

Off-spinners Nathan Lyon and Chris Green are both left out, as is batsman Josh Philippe and seamers Riley Meredith and Andrew Tye. Lyon, Philippe, Meredith and Tye were all part of the extended squad in England.

Squad: Aaron Finch (c), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Moises Henriques, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Daniel Sams, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa
