The two sides were due to play a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka between September 3 and September 7
Afghanistan's upcoming ODI series against Pakistan has been postponed until 2022.
The two sides were due to meet in a bilateral series for the first time in September, facing off in three ODIs in Hambantota, Sri Lanka.
However, due to the ongoing political situation in Afghanistan, and its impact on the players, both sides have agreed to play the series at a later date. Logistical difficulties, including travel to Sri Lanka, and lack of preparation time were also a factor in the series' postponement, with the two boards also ruling out a late venue change to Pakistan.

The series, which was originally set to be staged in the UAE, contributes towards the 2020-23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, with 30 points at stake.
Commenting on the decision, Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO, Hamid Shinwari, said: "With all the delay in making efforts to play in Sri Lanka, we lost enough time for preparations. Therefore, making a trip to Pakistan without preparation in such a short time is not going to be feasible for our players."
A date is yet to be set for the rearranged series.
