Find out all you need to know about the clash between the sides at Lauderhill
Two of the most exciting teams in international cricket do battle across all three formats across the month of August and the start of September.
The duel starts with a three-match T20 series - the first two matches of which are being played in Florida.
Both teams endured a difficult World Cup for vastly different reasons and this represents their first opportunity to banish those demons. The tour has been pushed back a fortnight following the tournament, which has also affected the start of the Caribbean Premier League.
SECOND T20: Central Broward Regional Park, Lauderhill, Florida (Sunday, August 4) - 8pm IST
THIRD T20: Providence Stadium, Guyana (Tuesday, August 6)
Despite reaching the semi-finals and going within touching distance of the Lord's showcase, the furore which surrounds Indian cricket, faux outrage has met the failure to win a third World Cup in England.
Virat Kohli's side performed admirably - they were arguably the best and most consistent side of the group phase - before they were beaten by New Zealand in a low-scoring thriller at Old Trafford.
There is anger in some quarters that Kohli remains the captain of this Indian side across all three formats, particularly as the BCCI appear to have extended his tenure as skipper seemingly without deliberation.
But this tour is mainly set against the backdrop of the reported fall-out between Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the World Cup's leading batsman and record-breaking century-maker.
A number of decisions made during the tournament and an episode involving both player's wives are said to be at the centre of the breakdown in their relationship, but it remains to be seen how this influences their performance over the next five weeks.
India won the first meeting of the sides on Saturday, having restricted their opponents to just 95 for 9 in 20 overs. They knocked off the required runs with four wickets to spare.
India are clear favourites, with Dafabet making the tourists 4/11. West Indies are outsiders at 6/4. No odds are available for the tie.
MS Dhoni has been omitted from the entire tour as he continues to consider his international future. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya will also not feature in the white-ball matches but have been included in the Test squad.
Uncapped pair Navdeep Saini and Rahul Chahar have both been included in the T20 squad while Shikhar Dhawan is fit to return after having to pull out of the World Cup squad. Dinesh Karthik is omitted completely while there is also no place for Vijay Shankar.
India squad: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (wk), Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini
This tour is no cleansing process for the Windies: preparation to defend their World T20 crown starts now. You would forgive them for wanting to forget altogether their World Cup campaign, which included two wins and some embarrassingly lacklustre performances.
Despite committing himself to the ODI series, there is no Chris Gayle in the squad due to his participation in the Canada GT20, and it remains to be seen if he will stay around for the defence of their title next year.
Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard are the big winners from the World Cup fall-out and return for the T20s, with back-up wicket-keeper Anthony Bramble the only uncapped member of the group. Nicholas Pooran is expected to take the gloves for the matches.
Andre Russell is out after a troubling summer while John Campbell is the man entrusted with fill the void left by Gayle. Carlos Braithwaite will, of course, take the captaincy after Jason Holder led the ODI team.
West Indies squad: Carlos Brathwaite (c), Anthony Bramble (wk), John Campbell, Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammad, Sunil Narine, Keemo Paul, Khary Pierre, Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Rovman Powell, Oshane Thomas
