What is it?

India host England in a three-match women's T20I series.

What is the schedule?

December 6: 1st T20I (1.30pm GMT/6.30pm IST) - Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai)

December 9: 2nd T20I (1.30pm GMT/6.30pm IST) - Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai)

December 10: 3rd T20I (1.30pm GMT/6.30pm IST) - Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai)

Who is in form?

For anyone who finds the run-up to Christmas frustrating, a period laden with attempts to ramp up the excitement but often falling short, this T20I series between India and England may well chime with you.

Because if we're being completely honest much of the intrigue for this tour centers around the standalone Test, the first staged in India between the nations since 2005, taking place between December 14-17.

Nevertheless, the subtext for that encounter will be built by these three matches, which involve many of the same protagonists and in similar conditions.

Four years after England's last visit to these shores there are several survivors - captain Heather Knight, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt among them - and several untested in these surroundings - Sarah Glenn, Mahika Gaur and Charlie Dean. How quickly they can adapt to surfaces, following the training camp in Oman, will be key.

Investment in the A system, the Under-19 World Cup win and the Women's Premier League are slowly but surely bearing fruit for India, who are laying the foundations for a title tilt in Bangladesh next year.

Titas Sadhu, Mannat Kashyap, Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaque will see this series as a key juncture towards being involved in that tournament and there are opportunities for Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma to rediscover some form under Amol Muzumdar.

Who is involved?

India have Renuka Singh available again after injury prevented her from pushing on from the T20 World Cup, when she took seven wickets.

Ishaque, who is also named in the Test group, and Patil are rewarded for form during the inaugural WPL.

They are accompanied by an all-star cast of captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma and Sharma.

England have Ecclestone available after she missed the Sri Lanka series having dislocated her shoulder. How fit she is, or whether she will be held back with a view to having a key part in the Test, remains to be seen.

Dean adds to the spin threat but there are no places for Alice Davidson-Richards and Danielle Gibson, or quick bowler Issy Wong, despite the latter pair being given central contracts.

Sophia Dunkley and Nat Sciver-Brunt return but neither Kate Cross nor Lauren Filer are involved in the T20Is.

India squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Richa Ghosh (wk), Amanjot Kaur, Shreyanka Patil, Mannat Kashyap, Saika Ishaque, Renuka Singh Thakur, Titas Sadhu, Pooja Vastrakar, Kanika Ahuja, Minnu Mani

England squad: Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Mahika Gaur, Danielle Gibson, Sarah Glenn, Bess Heath, Amy Jones, Freya Kemp, Heather Knight (c), Nat Sciver-Brunt, Danielle Wyatt

What is the weather forecast?

After some cloudy weather at the start of the week, sunny conditions will return for the duration of the series.

Temperatures are expected to be around 33 degrees Celcius for all three matches, which should ensure no interruptions to play.

What are the odds?

Bookmakers have placed India as favourites for the first T20I at evens, while England are the value option at 21/20.

Where to watch?

TNT Sports have been confirmed as the UK broadcasters for the entire tour. The matches can also be streamed via the Discovery+ app.

Reshmin Chowdhury will present the action alongside former England internationals Alex Hartley and Lydia Greenway.

For fans based in India, Jio Cinema and FanCode app and website will show every ball. Sports18 1 and Sports18 1 HD will show the tour for TV viewers.

For viewers located elsewhere across the world, Supersport is the place to go in South Africa, and Fox Sports and Kayo in Australia.
