The captain comes back after sitting out the three T20I matches against Bangladesh, which preceded the ongoing Test series between the teams
Virat Kohli will return to India’s white-ball unit for the upcoming series against West Indies.
He returns to the fold as captain after sitting out the three T20I matches against Bangladesh, which preceded the ongoing Test series between the teams.
The bilateral competition with West Indies, whose limited-over sides are now led by Kieron Pollard, will run through December, with three T20Is followed by three 50-over clashes.
There are just two changes to India’s ODI squad from their most recent series – a three-match affair against the same opposition, though on Caribbean soil in August. MS Dhoni, though, is left out once again.
Khaleel Ahmed and Navdeep Saini drop out of the squad, with Deepak Chahar, who recorded match figures of 6 for 7 during the Bangladesh T20I series, and Shivam Dube both coming in to replace the pair of seamers.
There are five changes, meanwhile, to India’s T20I party. Kohli comes back in and resumes captaincy responsibilities from Rohit Sharma, who held the role in his absence during the Bangladesh series.
Ravi Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav also return to a squad that is almost at full-strength. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya are still sidelined by back injuries, however.
Khaleel, Krunal Pandya, Sanju Samson, Rahul Chahar and Shardul Thakur are all left out, having been part of a more experimental setup against Bangladesh.
