India starlet Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the entire Test series against Australia through injury.

Shaw, the teenage prodigy who wowed the cricketing world with a century on debut against West Indies earlier this year, rolled his ankle while fielding in a warm-up game at the SCG in November.

India had hoped that he would be available from the third Test onwards but following further medical examination the decision has been taken to send him home.

Shaw will be replaced in the squad by Mayank Agarwal.

India, meanwhile, closed day four of the second Test in Perth on 112 for 5, requiring another 175 runs for victory and a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
