The opener will not field on day four of the second Test in Chennai after suffering a blow to his left forearm
Shubman Gill, the India opener, is awaiting the result of a scan on an arm injury which ensured he was unable to field on day four of the first Test against England in Chennai.
The 21-year-old took a blow to his left forearm on day three and has been taken out of the firing line.
A BCCI statement on the fourth morning confirmed Gill had been sent for a precautionary scan to determine the extent of the damage.
Medical officials are assessing his condition.

Gill registered scores of 0 and 14 during his two innings with the bat in what is just his fifth Test.
