India have suffered a Covid-19 scare ahead of day four of the LV=Insurance fourth Test against England after head coach Ravi Shastri returned a positive lateral flow test.

Bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding lead Ramakrishnan Sridhar and physiotherapist Nitin Patel have also been placed in isolation as a precaution and all four have undergone PCR tests.

All remaining members of the tourists' party, including the 11 players participating in the ongoing match at The Kia Oval, have come through two lateral flow tests and are free to continue their role in the Test.

The four aforementioned members of the coaching staff will be allowed to re-join the main party once permitted to by the medical team.

Rishabh Pant and member of the support staff Dayanand Garani tested positive for Covid earlier in the tour, which prevented them from being involved in the pre-series warm-up match in Durham.
