Fixture: Sunrisers v Central Sparks

Venue: Merchant Taylor's School, Northwood

Dates: Friday, September 10, 2021

Start time: 10.30am

What's the lowdown?

Sunrisers have lost all four games, Central Sparks are just point behind league-leaders Southern Vipers. On that evidence alone, Sparks will fancy themselves to keep the pressure on Charlotte Edwards' side at the top of the table.

It is mathematically impossible already for Sunrisers to reach the playoff phase, while Sparks will know that wins in their next two fixtures will almost certainly be enough to secure their spot in the final part of the regional season.

Who should I watch out for?

The leading run-scorer through the early rounds of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy was Amy Jones, but she is away with England, as are Heather Knight, Emma Lamb, Danni Wyatt, Sophia Dunkley and Tammy Beaumont, meaning that the most prolific available batter in the competition from the first batch of matches is Sparks' Eve Jones, who has enjoyed a fine campaign.

With the ball, both Emily Arlott and Issy Wong continue to impress. For Sunrisers, only Naomi Dattani (117) has scored more than 67 runs in 50-over cricket this summer. Watch out for Grace Scrivens, though; the teenager is highly thought of and on the national radar.

What's the team news?

Sunrisers squad: Kelly Castle, Amara Carr, Kate Coppack, Naomi Dattani, Jo Gardner, Gayatri Gole, Cordelia Griffith, Lissy Macleod, Katie Midwood, Sonali Patel, Mia Rogers, Grace Scrivens, Katherine Speed, Emily Thorpe, Emily Woodhouse, Fran Wilson

Central Sparks squad: Eve Jones, Emily Arlott, Hannah Baker, Thea Brookes, Clare Boycott, Steph Butler, Gwen Davies, Poppy Davies, Georgia Davis, Ria Fackrell, Sarah Glenn, Chloe Hill, Milly Home, Marie Kelly, Anisha Patel, Grace Potts, Liz Russell, Issy Wong

Prediction?

Central Sparks should have too much for Sunrisers, especially with Eve Jones in fine form.
