Hampshire have signed Ross Whiteley on a three-year white ball-only contract

The 33-year-old's departure from Worcestershire was confirmed at the start of September after he turned down a new deal

Whiteley joins T20 Blast semi-finalists Hants on the back of a successful few seasons in limited-over cricket.

He was a vital cog in Worcestershire’s Blast winning side of 2018 before his 44 off just 19 balls helped Southern Brave over the line in the inaugural Men’s Hundred Final.

“It’s with great excitement that I commit my future to Hampshire Cricket,” Whiteley said. “Hampshire is a club with a rich history of success in white-ball cricket and I’m thrilled to be joining an exciting group of players in the search for more trophies."

Whiteley has struck 2,597 runs in his 20-over career, averaging 25.46 and striking at above 141. He has had spells in the Bangladesh Premier League and Pakistan Super League and rose to global prominence after hitting Yorkshire’s Karl Carver for six sixes in an over during a Blast game in 2017.

"We are delighted Ross has decided to sign with Hampshire after his lengthy spell at Worcestershire,” Hampshire’s director of cricket Giles White said.

"When a player of Ross’s calibre becomes available there is always interest from a number of counties so it’s fantastic he’ll be joining up with us later this year. We’re very much looking forward to seeing Ross in Hampshire colours next summer and we’re sure Hampshire fans will share that sentiment."

Whiteley will officially join Hampshire on November 1 ahead of the 2022 season.
