A club statement confirmed that the players who have been withdrawn from the squad are self-isolating while awaiting results of a Covid-19 test, having come into contact with an individual who has reported symptoms
A number of Hampshire players have been ruled out of their T20 Blast match against Surrey as a precautionary measure.
Hampshire’s side features four changes from the team that was beaten by Essex on Wednesday, with England batsman James Vince set to keep wicket.
A club statement, which did not name the players affected, confirmed that the players who have been withdrawn from the squad are self-isolating while awaiting results of a Covid-19 test, having come into contact with an individual who has reported symptoms.
Elsewhere, it was confirmed earlier in the week that Yorkshire allrounder – and T20 Blast captain – David Willey had tested positive for coronavirus and would therefore miss the remainder of his club’s group matches.
Seamer Matt Fisher, batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore and spinner Josh Poysden also came into contact with Willey, meaning that they too are in quarantine and have been ruled out of Yorkshire’s remaining group games.
