Up to 40,000 people could have had their passwords compromised after a cyber attack on the icoachcricket platform. While the passwords are encoded, it is possible that, with time and expertise, hackers could decode them.

The ECB insist they retain confidence in their online security. It is understood the icoachcricket platform is run on a separate system by third party providers.
The ECB's own security, including sensitive information about employees and finances, were not affected.
While the ECB were not willing to discuss specific details of the data breach, it could have been the result of phishing attempt by hackers. This occurs when users are encouraged to reply to a hoax message, possibly divulging their own passwords, which allows the hackers to download a virus onto the users' hardware which will steal personal information.
The ECB are advising anyone with an icoachcricket account should change their password. It is not thought further action will be necessary.
