The rearranged tournament will stick to its original 40-over format, with rounds taking place each Sunday until the final
The 49th edition of The Cricketer Village Cup will start on Sunday, July 26. The announcement follows the government’s decision to allow recreational cricket to resume earlier this month.
The tournament, organised by The Cricketer since its inception in 1972, was due to begin on Sunday, April 19 in the Essex & Suffolk region. But it was suspended indefinitely following the coronavirus outbreak.
The rearranged tournament will stick to its original 40-over format, with rounds taking place each Sunday until the final.
Groups will be redrawn and the rearranged fixture dates are due to be announced shortly. Full information will appear on www.nationalvillagecup.com/fixtures.
The Cricketer would like to thank our sponsors Pipers Crisps, ExtraCover Insurance, Bola and Lord’s Taverners for their continuous support throughout this difficult period.
