Yorkshire seamer Jared Warner has signed for Gloucestershire on a three-year deal.

The 23-year-old will join the county at the end of the season and follows in the footsteps of Josh Shaw, who also made the journey from Headingley to Bristol.

Warner, who has previously spent time on loan at Sussex, featured for Yorkshire in their Roses clash against Lancashire in the Bob Willis Trophy earlier this season.

He said: “I spoke to Josh Shaw quite a bit, I’ve known him for a long time and used to play with him, so it was nice to have him here to tell me about the club and the area.

“I liked what I’ve heard and I think that played a big part in me being comfortable making the move down to Bristol. After speaking with Richard Dawson, I’m really looking forward to grabbing the opportunities available to me here.”

Gloucestershire head coach Richard Dawson added: “He’s an exciting young fast bowler who’s going to add a different dimension to the bowling group. He will add competition to the bowling unit and will give us options across all formats over the coming years.”

The county's red-ball campaign came to a premature end on Sunday, with their match against Northamptonshire abandoned at lunch on the first day after a Northants player – albeit not in the traveling matchday squad – tested positive for Covid-19.
