Worcestershire all-rounder Alex Hepburn has appeared in court on two counts of rape.

The 21-year-old attended Worcester Magistrates Court on Thursday and spoke only to confirm his name, address and nationality before being released on unconditional bail.

He was told to appear at the city's crown court on January 4.

Hepburn's solicitor, Jason Patel, did not give any indication how his client would plead.

Hepburn has been suspended on full pay after news broke that he had been arrested over an incident which is alleged to have taken place on April 1.

"As the matter is now subject to criminal proceedings the club is unable to provide any further comment at this stage," read a statement released by his county last week.
