Ryan ten Doeschate tops a list of high-profile names
Ryan ten Doeschate is back in the Holland squad for two World Cricket League games against Namibia... and he has one hell of an average to protect.
The all-rounder hasn't represented his country since the 2011 World Cup but, given his record when he last pulled on the colours, the Dutch will be expecting plenty of him in Dubai next month.
After all, Ten Doeschate averages a whopping 67 from 32 innings in one-day internationals, having hit five centuries and nine 50s.
That eye-popping stat is better than any other batsman to have played 20 innings or more in limited-overs cricket for their country.
And, on closer inspection, it's plain to see that Ten Doeschate's average is not just slightly better than his nearest rivals.
Second on the list is Paksitan's Babar Azam (58.60), then there's two modern giants of the game in the shape of Virat Kohli (55.74) and AB de Villiers (54.06), while Australian finisher Michael Bevan adds some 20th-century gloss to the top five (53.58).
While Kohli, De Villiers and Bevan all played considerably more games than Ten Doeschate - they have more than 25,000 runs from over 650 appearances between them - the Dutchman has the as-yet-unbeaten record of having hit two hundreds in two separate World Cups.
Ryan ten Doeschate is back in international cricket
Just two other players in history have managed the feat.
No wonder, then, that Holland head coach Ryan Campbell is delighted Ten Doeschate is back in 'orange'.
"Getting a player of Ryan's talent and experience is a massive gain for us," he said.
"What he brings to the squad is more than just runs, wickets and brilliant fielding. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in big matches.
"As captain of Essex, he has just led them to the Division One Championship. Our youngsters will gain knowledge that you just can't buy off a shelf.
"We are on the brink of something special but we will need cool, calm heads to see us through, I have no doubt Ryan will bring that."
