Sunil Narine became just the third bowler in history to take 300 Twenty20 wickets as he claimed three scalps in the Bangladesh Premier League over the weekend.

The West Indian spinner returned figures of 3-10 for Dhaka Dynamites in their clash with Sylhet Sixers, taking his total number of victims to 301 in the game's shortest form.

He is the second man from the West Indies to reach the landmark, with his compatriot Dwayne Bravo way out in front at the top with 387 wickets and Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka second on 324.

Formidable though Bravo's lead on everyone else is, the 34-year-old has bowled more than 1,000 deliveries more than any other man to have claimed 100 or more wickets in T20. And his average is inferior to all bar one other player in the top 10.

The list is dominated by bowlers from the sub-continent.

Six of the 10 most prolific wicket-takers are from Pakistan, in addition to Malinga. Alfonso Thomas, of South Africa, makes up the leading lights.

England are not even represented in the top 20, despite the country being the birthplace of the T20 format - and the first game taking place there in 2003.

And the identity of England's leading wicket-taker in the format might come as a suprise to some.

Ravi Bopara, with 185 victims at an average of 24.72, leads the way for his country. The Essex all-rounder has become something of a short-form expert, having been playing in the format since its inaugural season.

He has plied his trade in India, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan and Bangladesh and donned the colours of Chittagong Kings, Dhaka Dynamites, Dolphins, Karachi Kings, Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Sydney Sixers over the course of his career, making 265 T20 appearances.

At 32, he has plenty of time left to keep adding to his haul but he is being pursued by another England international in the shape of Yorkshire's Adil Rashid, who is his country's second-highest wicket-collector in T20 with 166.

Australia's four-over specialists are led by Dirk Nannes, with 257 scalps (though Holland may well try to lay claim to him), India's top man is Amit Mishra with 211 and Jeetan Patel leads the way for New Zealand with 187.
