The India captain scored a swashbuckling 104 against Sri Lanka... his 50th international century
Sachin Tendulkar, he's coming for you.
Virat Kohli completed the 50th international century of an already hugely impressive career against Sri Lanka on Monday... and no one has reached the landmark faster.
Kohli's swashbuckling effort at Eden Gardens almost helped his country to victory on day five of the first Test, with bad light ultimately intervening when Sri Lanka were seven wickets down in their second innings and well short of an unlikely target of 231.
It was the India captain's fastest Test ton, coming from 118 balls, and came in his 348th innings in all formats.
Hashim Amla, of South Africa, managed the feat of 50 centuries in the same number of innings but no one has ever bettered it.
Kohli has now hit nine international tons in 2017 - his best effort in a calendar year, with his previous record of eight having come in 2012 and 2014.
Virat Kohli has 50 international centuries to his name
He is now halfway to the 100 international centuries racked up by the Little Master, Tendulkar, during his illustrious career at the crease.
Only eight men in history have passed 50, with Amla the only man other than Kohli still playing for his country.
Tendulkar aside, no one has more hundreds to their name than Ricky Ponting's 71.
At the age of 29, Kohli is surely on to hit second place on the list well before he decides to hang up his boots. But will he match or surpass Tendulkar?
