Hold on to your hats, Bangladesh Premier League fans, there's a storm coming and it goes by the names of Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle.

Two of the world's most explosive batsmen touched down in the sub-continent within 24 hours of each other this week, as they prepare to take to the crease together for the Rangpur Riders.

Between them, the pair can boast 18,816 runs and 25 centuries in the shortest form of the game, with Gayle averaging 40.5 and McCullum 31.46.

West Indian legend Gayle has an incredible strike rate of 147.97 from 303 innings but New Zealander McCullum is not far behind on 139.65.

Rangpur must barely be able to believe their luck that they've landed both players, particularly after an inauspicious start to the new campaign left the Riders with one win from three matches.

The two will join a trio of Englishmen with Rangpur. David Willey, Ravi Bopara and Adam Lyth are all on the books of the club.

McCullum, who met his new team-mates on Wednesday prior to Gayle's arrival on Thursday, is eager to get going and renew a partnership that first came together with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

“Gayle is one of the most destructive batsman in T20 cricket. Opening with him will be exciting," McCullum is quoted as saying by bdcrictime.com.

The two players could make their first appearances when the Riders take on Comilla Victorians on November 18.

Gayle has a little extra motivation to add to his impressive T20 stats, after he was left unsold during the Pakistan Super League auction recently.

A franchise owner described him as being "no more the Gayle force" afterwards. He could be proved very wrong over the coming weeks.
