The Cricketer is delighted to announce that Chance to Shine, the charity that is spreading the power of cricket throughout schools and communities, is to be the official cricket charity of the National Village Cup.

Since 2005, Chance to Shine has brought the educational benefits of cricket to more than two million young people in England and Wales.

Fabian Devlin, head of communications for Chance to Shine, said: “The Cricketer has been a long-term supporter of the charity and, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we’re delighted to be chosen as its official cricket charity.

“Chance to Shine reaches many of the same areas as The National Village Cup and works with hundreds of inspirational cricket clubs that form the backbone of cricket in this country, to deliver cricket in our schools and communities.”

The Cricketer's commercial director, Jim Hindson, said: “Chance to Shine is a charity that is very close to my heart. So much so that I raised funds for it by running the Brighton Marathon in 2012! I’m really looking forward to working with the charity once again, and helping to raise awareness through the reach of the National Village Cup. Hopefully there will be fewer blisters for my efforts this year!”

Official sponsors of the National Village Cup include Pork Farms, Owzat-Cricket, Durant Cricket, Bombardier and TM Lewin, with Dairy Crest-owned Cornish cheddar giant Davidstow confirmed as headline sponsors until the end of 2016. The Daily Telegraph is the official media partner of the competition. The Prince’s Countryside Fund is an official charity of the competition.
