The Cricketer is delighted to announce that The Prince’s Countryside Fund has been selected as an official charity of the National Village Cup.

The Prince’s Countryside Fund was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales to help secure a brighter future for British farmers and the countryside. As a grant-giving organisation, it has already distributed more than £5 million to 120 projects across the UK, directly benefitting 100,000 people.

Helen Aldis, manager of The Prince’s Countryside Fund, said: “We are delighted to have been selected as an official charity of the National Village Cup. It’s such a fantastic tournament, bringing together rural communities across the UK to participate in such a truly British sport. Our rural communities are absolutely crucial to a thriving countryside and the National Village Cup is such a great way to bring a village together and celebrate everything that is great about the countryside.”

The Cricketer's accounts and operations manager, Jess Davidson, said: “The National Village Cup is a truly rural tournament, entered by teams across the country that live and work in communities just like those supported by the work of the Fund. Our partnership with The Prince’s Countryside Fund gives us the opportunity to help raise awareness of the issues faced by our rural communities and support them to ensure a brighter and more prosperous future.

“We are constantly looking to evolve the competition. By working with The Prince’s Countryside Fund we have the opportunity to engage ever more rural communities in this exciting competition. We are looking forward to working closely with the team to help raise awareness and vital monies for the Fund.”

Official sponsors of the National Village Cup include Pork Farms, Owzat-Cricket, Durant Cricket, Bombardier and TM Lewin, with Dairy Crest-owned Cornish cheddar giant Davidstow confirmed as headline sponsors until the end of 2016. The Daily Telegraph is the official media partner of the competition.
