PAKISTAN’S HAFEEZ SUSPENDED FOR ILLEGAL ACTION

Allrounder suspended for third time in three years

The ICC have suspended Pakistan allrounder Mohammad Hafeez following an assessment which deemed his bowling action to be illegal.

Hafeez’s action was reported following the third ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Abu Dhabi in October.

For Hafeez – who scored 148 runs at 49.33 and claimed one wicket in Pakistan’s triumphant Champions Trophy tournament – this is the third suspension since November 2014.

Timeline

December 2014: First suspension from bowling

April 2015: Permitted to bowl in international cricket following a reassessment

June 2015: Reported for a second time during a Test in Galle – a second suspension within 24 months resulting in a 12-month ban

November 2016: Action found to be legal following a reassessment

October 2017: Hafeez reported for a third time

November 2017: Hafeez banned from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect
