England have named a 12-man squad for the second Test against Australia in Adelaide.

Craig Overton is added to the side which played out a 10-wicket defeat in Brisbane.

There is no room for Mason Crane, however, despite Moeen Ali's problems with a cut to his spinning index finger.

Captain Joe Root said earlier on Friday that England would wait until after their practice session before deciding whether or not Moeen would be able to bowl at the Adelaide Oval.

He has not been bowling in the nets for much of this week, after contributing just four overs to Australia's second innings at the Gabba.

Root had also suggested that Crane's inclusion could be an option, with Moeen potentially kept in the side as a specialist batsman.

The England skipper will name his XI at the toss, which is due to take place at 1.30pm local time in Adelaide on Saturday (3am GMT).

The tourists go into the meeting 1-0 down in the Ashes series.

England squad: Cook, Stoneman, Vince, Root, Malan, Moeen, Bairstow, Woakes, Broad, Ball, Anderson, Overton
