Cricket South Africa have announced details for their T20 tournament

Cricket South Africa have confirmed the competition dates for their domestic T20 league and opened registration for players wanting to take part.

The tournament is scheduled to take place between November 9 and December 17 this year and will feature six teams - 12 months on from the aborted Global T20 League which left the the governing body paying more than £10million in compensation to players.

Squads of 16 players will be selected via a draft, set for October 17, with a minimum of three and maximum of four overseas and Kolpak players. Those taking part will be centrally contracted to the league rather than the individual franchise.

A bidding process among prospective host venues will take place to decide which grounds will stage the event, with each of the six teams bound to one stadium.

CSA have recruited a handful of experienced Indian Premier League administrators to assist in the running of the league.

"We will be seeking to secure the services of the foreign and South African marquee players who were recruited for the previous league on two-year contracts," said chief executive Thabang Moroe, who said the organisation want their competition to be "of international standing".

"In addition, subject to our international commitments, all the Standard Bank Proteas contracted players are expected to participate in most of the League.

"Any unavailability of Standard Bank Proteas players only affects the first few days of the league when the Proteas will be involved in their limited overs tour to Australia which finishes with the T20 match on November 17.

SABC, the country's public broadcaster, have agreed a deal to televise the matches and provide radio coverage.
