Sir Vivian Richards' six sixes. Mike Gatting's dropped catch. Shane Warne's ball of the century. Jaw-dropping moments in cricket are ten a penny and help form the tapestry of the sport.

But in Australia's Morning Peninsula Cricket Association's Bendigo Community Bank - District 2nds competition, the saying had an altogether different meaning.

Dromana batsman Jeff Bluhm was cruising towards a century as his side attempted to chase down 284 to beat Hastings.

On 99 not out he was denied reaching the milestone after being caught by Jayden Regan off the bowling of Hasith D Perera.

Regan had previously scored 27 and taken four wickets for Hastings, and upon helping claim the crucial breakthrough couldn't help but revel in the moment.

The pair had exchanged words throughout the innings and Regan couldn't resist having the last word upon Bluhm's departure.

However, such was the velocity of Regan's tirade he dislocated his jaw in the process, leaving it locked and him unable to speak further.

"We got a bit excited and started to carry on as you do. And then I thought, nah I’ll give it a bit more and then the jaw just fell out of place," Regan said, according to Frankston Standard Leader

"Once I got to the hospital I was screaming there. They took me straight in and the doctor had to put his thumbs in the back of my mouth and crack it back in."

After being treated at the hospital, Regan returned to the ground and was reunited with the intended target of the abuse.

"He was having a beer and I would have but I couldn’t," he added. "We had a bit of a laugh about it and wished each other good luck for the rest of the year."
