Somerset opened their 2019 summer with a monster 568-run victory over Cardiff MCCU -  the largest margin of victory in an English first-class fixture.

James Hildreth and Edward Byrom both hit unbeaten centuries as Somerset (387 for 4d & 345 for 9d) declared in both innings of the match. Cardiff were 118 all out in their first effort, with new recruit Jack Brooks picking up three wickets, before crumbling to 46 all out in their second - Craig Overton taking 6 for 24.

10

Heather Knight’s England have gone a remarkable run of 10 straight victories on their tour of India and Sri Lanka.

Having won the final match of the ODI series against India, England won the T20 series against Smriti Mandhana’s side 3-0 before winning both the ODI and T20I contests against Sri Lanka by the same scoreline.

Tammy Beaumont and Nat Sciver both passed 1,000 T20I runs for England in the process.

13

Aaron Finch hit two tons in the first three matches of Australia’s ODI series against Pakistan. The opener struck hit 359 runs at an average of 179.50 in those fixtures as Australia won the five-match series with two to play.

The hundreds were Finch’s 12th and 13th in the format - only four players: Ricky Ponting (29), Mark Waugh (18), Adam Gilchrist (16) and David Warner (14), have scored more ODI centuries for Australia.

102*

Sanju Samson registered the first century of IPL 2019, hitting an unbeaten 102 from 55 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

85

A year on from the ball-tampering scandal, David Warner hit 85 off 53 on his IPL return for Sunrisers. The Australian struck nine fours and three sixes in a six-wicket defeat to Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders, thanks in large part to Andre Russell’s 49* off 19 in the chase.

127

Surrey’s Jamie Smith hit a record-breaking hundred against MCC in the Champion County match. The 18-year-old’s 127 is the highest score ever by a Surrey debutant.

251

In the same innings, team-mate Ollie Pope hit his highest first-class score. It was the highest by a Surrey player since Kevin Pietersen’s unbeaten 355 not out against Leicestershire in 2015.

4

Dom Sibley was another centurion in the season curtainraiser. The Warwickshire opener has registered a hundred in each of his last four first-class fixtures.
