New Zealand have suffered an injury scare on day three of the second Test at Trent Bridge after Kyle Jamieson exited the field in the evening session.

The pace bowler walked off halfway through the 94th over of England’s first innings, with what at first appeared to be an issue with his right elbow.

However, a statement from the New Zealand camp confirmed Jamieson had experienced a sharp pain in his lower left back.

The statement continued: "He is currently being assessed by medical staff and is unlikely to return to the field today."

Jamieson bowled 16.3 overs in England’s innings, posting figures of 0 for 66. Trent Boult completed Jamieson’s final over.
