England v India: The essential first Test day one stats to help keep you ahead of the game

We take a look at the Headingley head-to-heads and India's record in Leeds

Day one of the England v India Test at Headingley has finally arrived.

If you fancy a flutter during the series, then look no further as we've teamed up with Betfair to give you all the stats you need to know for each day of this epic five-Test series.

Since 1932, India have played 67 Tests in England, winning just nine (or 13.4 per cent of games). The home side have won 36 (53.7 per cent), with draws accounting for 22 results (32.8 per cent).

At Headingley, which first hosted a fixture between the two sides in 1952, the tourists' record is a little better. They have won two of their seven Tests (28.6 per cent) held in Leeds, although England's four victories (57.1 per cent) still makes them strong favourites based solely off historical record.

By comparison, England have won 37 (46.5 per cent) of their Tests at Headingley, losing 25 (31.25 per cent) and drawing 18 (22.5 per cent).

On all seven occasions India were the visitors to Leeds, the team winning the toss has decided to bat first – but this may be a bit of a red herring in terms of predicting the overall result as the team bowling first have won four of those games (57.1 per cent).
