An inconsistent bowling performance from England on the first day at the Kia Oval failed to take full advantage of helpful conditions.

After Ollie Pope won the toss, the home side took six wickets but lost Chris Woakes to a suspected shoulder injury before the close.

We've teamed up with Betfair to give you all the stats you need to know for each day of the series.

For those interested in how the batters might go today, the average number of runs scored per session on day two of Kia Oval Tests since 2006 is 83.76 before lunch, 101.33 between lunch and tea, and 107.55 after tea.

Meanwhile, if you're interested in how many times the ball crosses the rope in the day ahead, the average number of fours scored is 36.16, while the average number of sixes is 2.16.

This compares favourably with day one averages of 31.61 for fours, although the first day's average for sixes is 1.55.
