Jenny Gunn has been ruled out of England Women's T20 international series against Australia with a side strain.

The experienced allrounder did not feature in the ODI or Test legs of this year's Women's Ashes.

She will now return to Loughborough Lightning to begin her rehabilitation process ahead of the start of the Kia Super League.

Gunn, who played in England's 2005 Women's Ashes victory, is one of England's most experienced players, with her range of slower deliveries particularly useful in the shortest format of the game.

England go into the final three-match mini-series of the multi-format contest still looking for their first win.

After a trio of defeats in the ODI games, England mustered a draw in the Test match at Taunton, although the result saw Australia retain the Women's Ashes.
