Sri Lanka hammered England in the fifth ODI at Colombo on Tuesday. The Cricketer looks at the individual performances of the 22 players...
Niroshan Dickwella (95): A lovely knock from the impressive opener. Deserved a hundred but went for one shot too many as he approached three figures. 9
Sadeera Samarawickrama (54): Showed aggression, hitting over the top with flourish. Put England instantly on the back foot alongside Dickwella. 8
Dinesh Chandimal (80): A captain’s knock backing up his openers and keeping things tick over while Mendis upped the ante at the other end. Brave against Rashid. 8.5
Kusal Mendis (56): A belligerent 30-ball fifty and took a high-quality catch to dismiss Hales. 8.5
Dasun Shanaka (18): A swift cameo with the bat. 6
Thisara Perera (11 & 0-18): Couldn't fire with the bat like the top order. A costly two overs. 5
Dhananjaya de Silva (19* & 1-18): Useful with the bat towards the end of the innings then picked up one wicket. 7
Akila Dananjaya (18* & 4-19): Quick runs, claimed the key wickets of Moeen and Stokes and ended up with a four-for. 9
Dushmantha Chameera (3-20): Blew England's top order away. 9
Kasun Rajitha (1-21): Jaffa first up to Roy and dismissed the opener five balls later with a yorker. 8
Lakshan Sandakan (0-35): Went for 11.66 an over. 3

Jason Roy (4): Beaten by a beauty first up. Whipped his third ball for four. Stumps everywhere sixth ball. Two catches. 3
Alex Hales (0): A second-ball duck for the Notts man. One grab in the field. 2
Joe Root (10): Managed more than those around him but didn’t escape Chameera’s charge. 3
Jos Buttler (0): Cantered down the wicket to Chameera and edged through to Dickwella. Disappointing for the stand-in skipper. 2
Ben Stokes (0-34 & 67): While England floundered in the field, Stokes raged. Battled valiantly with the bat while fighting a serious case of cramp. 8
Moeen Ali (2-57 & 37): Picked up a brace of wickets and performed well alongside Stokes as England briefly threatened to be competitive. 7
Sam Curran (0-46 & 2): Tight start but the openers soon went after him. 5
Adil Rashid (1-52 & 4): Caused Sri Lanka more problems than most but couldn’t arrest the hosts’ strike rate. 6
Tom Curran (2-72 & 1*): Poor drop of Chandimal off Moeen. Expensive but once again managed to winkle out a couple of wickets through his variations. 5
Liam Plunkett (1-44 & 5): One wicket but an expensive five-over spell from the seamer. 4
Mark Wood (0-55 & DNB): Not at his best. Struggled to find his line early on. Five wides. 4
