England bowler Stuart Broad has passed the New Zealand great's Test wicket tally on day two of The Oval Test
Stuart Broad has passed Sir Richard Hadlee’s Test wicket tally on day two of The Oval Test.
Broad struck with his first ball to remove India’s Shikhar Dhawan, his 432nd Test scalp.
New Zealand great Hadlee - the first man to take 400 Test wickets - claimed his 431 wickets at an average of 22.29 in just 150 Test innings. Broad is currently bowling in his 224th.

Leading Test wicket-takers among fast bowlers
While his bowling partner James Anderson is sitting on 559, just four behind Glenn McGrath, Broad is quietly making his way up the leading wicket-takers list.
Kapil Dev (434) is next in the England bowler’s sights before a hefty jump to Courtney Walsh’s 519.
Earlier in the day Broad had registered his best effort with the bat this summer, hitting a valuable 38 in a 98-run stand with Jos Buttler which helped England recover from 181 for 7 to 332 all out.
