Stuart Broad is targeting Test history by becoming the only man to take three hat-tricks in the format.

Only three other men - Australian legspinner Jimmy Matthews, his countryman Hugh Trumble and Pakistan legend Wasim Akram - have taken two hat-tricks in Tests in addition to Broad.

Fresh off the back of another career treble during a warm-up game against a West Indies President's XI in Barbados on Wednesday, Broad is hoping to repeat the feat in the remaining years of his international career.

"I’m on a list with Wasim Akram and a few others of those who got two, but I would love to get three. Maybe this is just good practice," he told Nottinghamshire's official website.

Stuart Broad has taken two Test hat-tricks

"They are good fun and exciting to be involved in. It creates a bit of drama. It’s always nice to get the elation of taking wickets."

Broad's quickfire burst on Wednesday came as England claimed 19 President's XI wickets in a single day's play.

Whether or not the opposition provided a stern enough challenge ahead of the Test series, which is due to begin in Bridgetown next week, is a matter for debate but Broad was nonetheless pleased with the touring bowlers' return.

"It was quite a ruthless performance,” he said. “It’s very easy in warm-up games to take your foot off the gas when you’ve already got wickets.

"But we continued to hunt for them, which is a really good habit to get into as a team.

"Our fielding was sharp, with a lot of diving stops and good catches, and that’s something we want to continue into the Test series."
