One of Ben Stokes' co-defendants in his affray trial has been found not guilty.
Ryan Hale, who was being tried alongside Stokes and Ryan Ali at Bristol Crown Court this week, has been cleared after the judge presiding over the case - Peter Blair QC - directed the foreman of the jury to enter a not guilty verdict.
Mr Blair explained that he saw no evidence to suggest that Mr Hale, a former soldier, used or threatened unlawful violence.
He told the court: "I have come to the conclusion that I should exercise my responsibility of directing you that there is no case to answer against Ryan Hale".
The three men were charged following an altercation outside a Bristol nightclub in the early hours of September 29.
Stokes is expected to give evidence later on Thursday.
The trial, which was expected to last between five and seven days, continues.
