Kevin Pietersen has said he would be interested in a coaching role with the England white-ball side.

Pietersen's farewell tour of the cricketing world is set to come to an end this year, following spells in the Pakistan Super League and Australia, and he is set to focus more of his time on conservation work.

However, having been excited by the way England have progressed in the one-day arena under coach Trevor Bayliss and captain Eoin Morgan, the former Test captain would love to contribute to the team's development.

"Of course it would be nice to have a connection," Pietersen said.

"I have an incredible amount to offer the game. It is wasted that English cricketers do not benefit. To be involved with this young one-day set-up would be nice, because I love the way they play. It is so good. It is attack.

"Although Eoin has not scored runs for a while, his captaincy has been brilliant. He is a man in control of his team.

"It is brilliant to see they are playing the way we should always have been playing. We have always had the players, it was the system. It is lovely they have a free rein to go out there and fail, which is magnificent.

"Bayliss has had so much experience in the IPL and T20 cricket, so he has seen failure and success. White-ball cricket is something they fancy and they want to win a World Cup. It is brilliant they are backing players to be so positive."

Pietersen has one Big Bash left for Melbourne Stars and he has once again ruled out a return to the competition.

“I am finishing with Big Bash. I can’t see myself coming back here and wanting to play another season of Big Bash," he said.

"My body is starting to ache and I am really not enjoying the fielding side. It is starting to really get on me. I have a couple of tournaments left that I am fully committed to but I can’t see myself in ten months time wanting to play cricket."
