England seamer has admitted he may not recover in time for fourth Ashes Test
England seamer Craig Overton has admitted he may struggle to make the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne after exacerbating a cracked rib last week.
The Somerset paceman suffered the injury on debut in the second Test in Adelaide but made the issue worse after diving in an attempt to take a caught and bowled in Perth.
Overton is a doubt for the game at the MCG, where the tourists will be playing for pride after series defeat was confirmed on Monday.
"We're going to assess it over the next couple of days," Overton told BBC Sport.
"Melbourne might be a push but it's still an option to play at the minute."
England are staring at the possibility of a second successive away Ashes whitewash at 3-0 down with two matches to play.
"It's looming in the background but we're still pretty confident that we've competed in this series and we're not far off winning games, they've just performed better for longer periods," Overton said.
"We're still fighting to get that result and show everybody what we can do out here.
"It's tough, obviously they're a good side in their home conditions and their bowlers are suited to playing out here with the pace they've got. We need to find a little bit more in our side and score a few more runs and take a few more wickets."
